Hi I'm Tash and I'm thrilled that you are here.
I am a postpartum doula living, mothering and working on whadjuk noongar Boodjar. My focus is working in-home with parents in the early days of their postpartum to ensure they are supported and held during the beautiful upheaval of newborn life.
In a life pre motherhood I worked as a nanny. Providing nurturing, loving care to a range of wonderful children. The progression to postpartum doula shares many parallels to nannying; lots of holding space for big feelings, creating joyful situations to soothe overwrought nervous systems, making delicious snacks and putting people to bed for a restorative nap!
I was deeply rocked by my own postpartum and it was during that time that I started to hear the call to work with new families to ensure that people had an easier time of it than me! I purchased all the things, read the books, made the hospital pack list but forgot to ask the key question; who was going to be focused on supporting me as I went through the biggest change of my adult life- maiden to mother? Nurturing my baby came naturally to me but nurturing myself was a totally different proposition.
With the benefit of hindsight I can see what a postpartum doula could have done for me and now what I can do for you. You can't pour from and empty cup. There are lots of ways I can help you fill yours so you feel held, seen and supported.
You are heading in to a big new world and I want to be there along side you to support you through the journey of your early postpartum.
